Switch off the lights and sleep with Pukka

2nd ožujka 2015

During the months of February & March we’ve been asking you to sleep with us as a way of helping everyone get the perfect night’s rest. To help our campaign go out with a bang we’re joining our partners WWF in helping to promote Earth Hour 2015. For one hour at 8.30pm on March 28 (it’s a Saturday night) we want you to join us and switch off the lights. As a special tribute, we’ll be switching our website over to an Earth Hour theme for that one hour and of course all Pukka people will be joining in too.

You’ll also join hundreds of millions of people from across the world coming together in this symbolic and spectacular display. It’s a huge reminder that together we have the power to make change happen.

If everyone in the world consumed natural resources at the rate we do in the UK, we’d need three planets, not just one, to support us. The impacts are already starting to affect us all. It’s easy to forget how much we depend on it for food, fuel, water and fresh air….but by making small changes every day we make our daily lives more sustainable.

Last year in the UK, over 9 million individuals took part in Earth Hour alongside 1000 businesses and organisations and 4600 schools - with many holding their events. Iconic landmarks including Big Ben and Palace of Westminster, Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge, Wembley Stadium, Edinburgh Castle, The Senedd and many more joined the global lights out.

From Samoa to Tahiti, a record 162 countries and 7,000 towns and cities took part in the world’s biggest Earth Hour yet. The Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House, the world’s tallest building Burj Khalifa in Dubai, South Africa’s Table Mountain, The Acropolis in Athens, The Eiffel Tower in Paris, Christ the Redeemer (statue) in Rio de Janeiro, The Empire State Building and Times Square in New York City, the Las Vegas Strip were just a few of the world-famous landmarks that joined in.

But the lights out really is just the beginning. At its heart, Earth Hour is a community of people who are sharing their love for our planet and taking action to protect it every day.

So Pukka people take this special hour as the perfect opportunity to prepare for a good night’s rest. Listen to Seb’s relaxation recording here. Or just lie back and look at the stars. Every other day for the week before Earth Hour we’re going to be posting something on our social channels for you to help you get ready to join in. Please like us using the social buttons on this page below so you’ll get the updates. And then on the 28 March sleep with Pukka and do it for your planet. You’ll be doing something great along with millions of other people that will benefit you, plants and the planet we all live on.

Fox, Marketing Director

I oversee the way that Pukka communicates with the world – from our packaging to our websites with the help of a truly talented team. I try and make sure we retain a unique voice cloaked in the beauty and elegance most people associate with Pukka. I live on a farm in North Somerset with a range of much-loved animals and my lovely family. One of my greatest pleasures is wandering along the hedgerows and picking all kinds of wild, incredible things to cook, eat or flavour something alcoholic. As marketing director, I'm just here to help connect as many people as possible around the world to the incredible power of organic plants.
